Senior UNIX / Linux Monitoring Engineer - ESM Tools
Location: Eagan, MN

We are seeking a Senior UNIX/Linux Monitoring Engineer, with a focus on enhancing customer workflows through Python scripting, ensuring communication via APIs, optimizing cloud performance, Postgres migrations, Zabbix monitoring, and Splunk Observability Cloud troubleshooting. Precise communication and high motivation are vital for excelling in tasks and delivering optimal solutions while ensuring seamless workflow enhancements and project success.

This position is in Eagan, MN. An on-site presence is required for this position. (currently allowing 1-2 days remote work, but could be 100% on-site in the future)

Responsibilities include:
In this role, you will play a key part in enhancing customer workflows through Python scripting by creating, modifying, and adjusting scripts to meet specific requirements effectively. Your responsibilities also include ensuring seamless communication between software applications with API experience, involving interpreting, creating, and troubleshooting APIs promptly to address any potential issues. Additionally, you will optimize cloud infrastructure performance by building and troubleshooting monitoring systems, proactively addressing monitoring-related issues. Leveraging your experience in Postgres database migration is crucial to ensuring a smooth migration process, maintaining data integrity, and minimizing downtime effectively. Furthermore, you will improve operational efficiency by utilizing Zabbix for network and server monitoring, automation, and proactive issue resolution through customized alert configurations. Enhancing system observability and troubleshooting capabilities using Splunk Observability Cloud, with API integration for efficient data extraction and analysis, will also be part of your day-to-day tasks.

Required Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or associated discipline and a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience. Additional experience may be substituted in lieu of degree
• Proven experience with Python Scripting showcasing the capability to develop, customize, and adapt scripts to meet specific customer requirements.
• Advanced skills in API utilization, able to interpret, create, and troubleshoot API issues proficiently.
• Extensive experience in Cloud technologies, with the ability to build and troubleshoot monitoring solutions effectively.
• Hands-on experience with Postgres DB, particularly in migration tasks.
• Familiarity with Zabbix monitoring system and a background in automation skills
• Knowledge of Splunk Observability Cloud is preferred, and experience with APIs in this area would be advantageous.

• Preferred candidates will be local to the Eagan, MN area. (This position does not provide relocation assistance).

Additional Provisions:
• Must be able to obtain a Position of Public Trust Clearance
• Pass both a client mandated clearance process to include drug screening, criminal history check and credit check.
• All candidates must be a US Citizen or US Permanent Resident only.
• Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
• Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last five years. Military Service excluded. (Exception does not include military family members.)
